PostLBS

Orkney is developer and maintainer of PostLBS, which provides core tools for Location Based Services as open source software based on PostgreSQL and PostGIS. PostLBS includes routing and address search functionalities - pgRouting and pgGeocoder, which are similar to those found in proprietary software.

Community Support

Local Community Support

Orkney is the first company that internationalizes GRASS and MapServer, major open source GIS software, in collaboration with Osaka-city University and E-solution service Inc.,sponsored by Information-technology Promotion Agency, Japan in 2004. This work enables “double byte character using entities” such as China, Korea, Japan, and other Asian countries to use those open source software in their local languages. Since then, Orkney has been strongly working for building the local FOSS4G community and is one of the largest supporter for the Japanese OSGeo community.
